Johnny’s Produce was created by us, Johnny and Ginna Baldiviez and our sons to bring the feeling of the classic family farmer’s market to Alaska. A way to support fellow Alaskans, our shop features a variety of fresh local produce options and other products such as the book “Alaska From Scratch” by Maya Wilson and Frontiersman Sourdough starters. We strive to support small farms by sourcing wonderful produce from growers all over the world to bring you an eclectic variety as well. Each of our employees is equipped with knowledge of our product and its origins, and is happy to help you by only selecting the freshest and tastiest fruits and vegetables for your home. It all started when…
Rosario Gariotto, Johnny’s great-grandpa, immigrated from Sicily to the United States as a young boy passing on his legacy in the produce business. Johnny, with produce in his blood, began working in his mother’s produce business as a young teen. He took orders, stocked, loaded and delivered fruits and veggies to mom and pop shops and the great giants, including Knott’s Berry Farm and Disneyland, experiencing the gamut in running a produce business.
Johnny moved to Anchorage in 1982 and has since been in the produce, grocery and bakery business along with his wife and sons. Their passion, knowledge in product, work ethic and combined years of experience have consistently lead not only to exceptional customer service, but their commitment has earned them awards and recognition in the Anchorage community.
